JUNE 2010
Dear Guild Member
The new Committee have met and have thought up some interesting events for you over the next few months. So the first date for your diary is Friday 18th June. There will be an evening of DVDs and Mulled Wine at the home of your Secretary at 7pm. You probably know where to come, but in case you don’t, we hope to see you at 14 Cambridge Road, Observatory. (If you get lost phone me at 021 448 1939). We have DVDs on the history of the Organ and I believe we will see and hear the instrument in the Wannermaker Stores in the USA.
In July we plan a trip to Stellenbosch on Saturday 24th. When we will visit some of the interesting instrument in this historic town.
In August, our Barrow Dowling scholar will give a recital in St George’s Cathedral (as he comes to the end of his two year scholarship).
September brings Gordon Stewart to our shores and we hope to be enlightened by him on the 20th and 21st Sept.
In early October we hope to visit Worcester and the historic instrument in the N.G. Kerk Saal.
Please book Friday 29th October for our annual Dinner, which will be rather special this year as we have a group of organists from the U.K. visiting us at that time.
For those of you who missed the AGM in early May, Our President for this year is Grant Brasler, and his vice President is Dieter Magnet. The Secretary is unchanged (me) Our Treasurer is now Mr Peter Coates. The Committee Members are Gary de Villiers, Anton Els and Freddie Symonds. Deon Irish now becomes Past President (ex officio).
I hope all this will keep your interest up and look forward to seeing you next Friday.
Yours sincerely
Jimmy Riadore
